Pepī & Tamariki

Family Start
For hapū māmā and pēpi/tamariki up to 18 months — Kawerau and Onepū. We support māmā and whānau from hapūtanga through the early years of parenting, building strong bonds and a positive start to whānau life.

Poipoia te Mokopuna
For young tamariki from around 2 years old — Kawerau and Onepū. We support whānau with mokopuna at home to build learning, connection, and confidence through everyday activities.

Intensive Tamariki Support
For tamariki aged 5 to 13. We walk alongside whānau when rangatahi are coming to the attention of Oranga Tamariki, supporting movement toward safer, more positive pathways.

Social Workers in Schools
For tamariki and rangatahi at participating schools. We tautoko tamariki when life feels heavy — grief, bullying, anxiety, family changes. Referrals through Kawerau South School, Pūtauāki Full Primary, Te Whatatau ō Pūtauāki, and Tarawera High School.

Te Kura o Te Toroa — Alternative Education
For high school aged rangatahi struggling within mainstream schooling. We rebuild confidence, routine, and direction. Referrals through Rangitaiki or Tarawera High School.

Oranga Rangatahi
For rangatahi aged 13 to 17. We walk alongside whānau when rangatahi are coming to the attention of Police or Oranga Tamariki, supporting safer, more positive pathways.

Tō Ara Mahi — Getting Ready for Work
For rangatahi aged 16 to 24. CVs, interview skills, career exploration — building confidence, routine, and meaningful pathways toward independence and purpose.

Intensive Whānau Support
For adults aged 18+. We support whānau facing complex challenges — family harm, relationship breakdown, mental distress, and alcohol or drug use — strengthening safety, stability, and long-term wellbeing.

Te Ara ki te Tū
Court-directed non-violence programme. We deliver accountability, behaviour change, and safer whānau relationships. Referrals from Ministry of Justice or Corrections.

Te Pūkaea o Te Waiora
For tamariki and rangatahi under 18. Early intervention when things begin to feel overwhelming — coordinating support and checking in before concerns escalate. Referrals through Te Pūkaea call centre.

Whānau Ora Navigation
Kawerau and Onepū. We walk alongside whānau to develop whānau-led plans based on what matters most, supporting access to Whānau Direct funding and tino rangatiratanga.

Manaaki Koeke (EARS)
For kaumātua and older people. When abuse, harm, or mistreatment is happening — or at risk — we walk alongside to restore safety, strengthen voice, and uphold mana.

Mental Wellbeing Support for Tamariki and Rangatahi
Ages 0–19. We support tamariki and rangatahi experiencing emotional distress, stress, behaviour changes, or difficult life events — across home, kura, and community.

Alcohol and Drug Support for Adults
Recovery planning, relapse prevention, and whānau-centred support for adults seeking help with alcohol or drug use — including preparation for residential rehabilitation.

Rangatahi Health and Wellbeing Support
Ages 10–19. Strengths-based, tikanga-led, whānau-centred support — brief interventions, practical support, and encouragement to build confidence and connection.

Kaupapa Māori Youth Mentor Support
Ages 10–24. One-to-one mentoring, group work, and cultural connection for rangatahi experiencing mild mental distress or AOD challenges — focused on prevention and identity strengthening.

Alcohol and Drug Education for Rangatahi
Ages 10–24. Supporting rangatahi and whānau to reduce harm through education, practical strategies, and supportive kōrero — focused on positive change and strengthened wellbeing.

Physical Activity and Nutrition Support
Ages 12–24. Wellbeing plans, physical activity — including tākaro Māori — and community or school-based workshops supporting health through movement, nutrition, and connection.

Nurse-Led Clinic · Hours: 8.30am – 4.30pm
Te Whare Haumanu is a Kaupapa Māori nurse-led clinic providing accessible, whānau-centred health care for all ages. Our experienced Nurse Prescribers and Nurse Practitioner Intern focus on assessment, treatment, prevention, and wellbeing — grounded in tikanga and manaakitanga.

For all ages. Our nurse prescriber assesses health needs and can prescribe some medicines. Complex needs are referred to the right care.

Well Child Checks
For pēpi and tamariki aged 0–4. Regular health checks supporting growth, development, and overall wellbeing.

Before School Check
For tamariki aged 4–5. Final health check before school to identify any needs early and support a strong start.

Vaccinations
Childhood and adult vaccinations. Contact us for specific vaccination availability.

Stop Smoking Support
One-to-one and group support combining practical tools with kaupapa Māori approaches.

For enrolled patients only. Monday–Friday, 9:00am–11:00am.

Nurturing confident speakers who carry the kōrero of Tūwharetoa ki Kawerau with mana. Strengthens understanding of tikanga, whakapapa, and whaikōrero — supporting participants to stand with confidence on the marae, in the community, and across generations.
